PM Mohammad Shtayyeh said that the content if the American conference in Al-Manama is meager and representing in it is considered shallow and its outcomes will be futile. The Conference has been delegitimized since Palestine rejected it and is not participating in it.

The PM assured that the solution for the Palestinian Cause is political; the solution includes ending the occupation, enabling us to control our resources, and building an independent economy.

He added: “whoever wants to achieve peace and prosperity for the Palestinian people has to demand Israel to stop stealing our land, pirating our money, and seizing our natural resources and abilities. They need to force it to end its occupation and stop the settlements and to get rid of its consequences, along with lifting the siege on Gaza Strip and abiding by the dictates of the International Law and International resolutions.”

Regarding the financial situation, Shtayyeh said that: “Israel is still holding our money and that our financial situation is challenging, but we will hold our ground. We will not give up and we will not accept our money if it isn’t the full price, we will not accept Israel’s piracy or the marking of our martyrs and our families as “terrorists”.

He added: “We are looking for solutions and we have some plans, but the radical solution comes with Israel returning our money, fully.”

The PM welcomed everyone who participated in this emergency meeting for the Arab Finance Ministers, which was held in order to help Palestinians in dealing with the financial situation, expressing his hope that the Arab safety net would be translated into reality.

The Cabinet commended the initiative of the private sector to lend to the government, which is still in the stages of study, and will be announced in detail when translated into reality, stressing that the private sector has always been a vital national component in the Palestinian cause.

The PM called all the companies to assume their responsibilities and to reduce the burden of staff, through the establishment of mechanisms to streamline or postpone part of the obligations, so as not to prejudice the interests of either party.

He pointed that the Ministries of Education and Higher Education have contacted educational institutions and universities in our country in order to consider the financial conditions of students due to the difficult financial situation, and there are positive signs from a large number of universities that facilitated the registration process for students, calling on the rest of the universities to do the same.
