Ministry Of Statistics: Product prices fell last month

The general price index of the products decreased by 0.59% during July, compared with June, where the general index reached 97.96, compared to 98.54 with the previous month (base year 2018 = 100).

The product price index for locally consumed goods from domestic production decreased by 0.71%, where the index of product prices of locally consumed goods reached 97.86 last month, compared to 98.57 in June (base year 2018 = 100).

The product price index for goods exported from domestic production increased by 0.44%, where the index for goods exported from domestic production reached 98.77, compared with 98.34 with the previous month (base year 2018 = 100).

The prices of commodities produced by agriculture, forestry and fishing activity decreased by 2.05%, which represents a relative importance of 32.14% of the product basket, due to the decrease of commodity prices in non-permanent crops by 3.75%, affected by the decrease in prices of goods within the cultivation of vegetables, watermelons, roots and tubers by Commodities prices increased by 2.88% due to the decrease in poultry prices by 9.27%, despite the increase in the prices of commodities within the perennial crops by 2.14% and 12.73%. for tropical and sub-tropical fruits.

Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supplies also fell by 0.39%, with a relative importance of 9.33% of the product basket.

The prices of mining and quarrying products remained stable during July 2019, where the figure stood at 98.94, which has a relative importance of 1.26% of the product basket. The prices of water supply, sanitation, waste management and treatment increased by 2.45%, which has a relative importance of 1.69% of the product basket.

The prices of goods produced from manufacturing industries increased slightly by 0.07%, which has a relative importance of 55.59% of the product basket, due to the increase in the prices of processing and preserving fruits and vegetables by 3.26%, the prices of the beverage industry by 1.45%, and the prices of the textile industry by 0.85%. Despite the decline in the prices of processed and preserved meat by 1.93%, and the prices of the manufacture of oils and vegetable and animal fats by 0.62%, and prices of goods within the activity of printing and reproduction of registered media by 0.56%, and prices of the manufacture of metal products except machinery and equipment by 0.53%.
