Labor Minister Nasri Abu Jaish confirmed the ministry's intention to implement the minimum wage law, pointing to the closure of non-compliant facilities.
Addressing activists of the General Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions, Abu Jaish, who gathered in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of Labor in Ramallah, on Thursday, demanding the application of the minimum wage and raise it in line with the national poverty line, the ministry inspectors 90 visits to work sites, facilities and institutions in all Governorates in order to enforce the law; we have closed a large number of institutions that are not committed to the current minimum wage.
Regarding the work of workers in the Israeli settlements, Abu Jaish said, This issue worries the government.
Abu Jaish received a memorandum from the demonstrators containing the demands of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Palestine.
For his part, Secretary General of the Federation of Trade Unions Shaher Saad, in a speech during the gathering to raise the monthly minimum wage, and obliging employers to implement and increase it to take into account the national poverty line issued by the data of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, which is 2470 shekels, not even Extreme poverty of 1974 NIS.

Saad also called for the amendment of the Penal Code in the Labor Code to be a deterrent to the perpetrators of violations of the law and the minimum wage system.
In conjunction with the gathering, the National Wages Committee held a meeting, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Labor, in the presence of representatives of the Federation of Trade Unions and Employers.
The committee decided to open a dialogue on the minimum wage in line with the national poverty line, and hold another session in early October to take the necessary decisions.
